Red God Release Date? What do we Know?

Red Rising has taken Dystopian literature by storm and after a beautiful 3 books, the second series is unfortunately coming to a close. Our finale: Red God. Just last month in July, we had the latest book in the series, Light Bringer, hit the shelves. So how long will Red God take until it is released.

It took 4 years for Light Bringer to come out after its predecessor, Dark Age. And it would be a crime if we had to go through that again (I only discovered the series this year). But we do have news on the upcoming release, even though it might not be what you’re looking for…

Release Date

So far, Pierce Brown (the author of Red Rising) has not specifically given an exact date. However, don’t give up hope that it won’t come out soon because he has said something. In an Instagram post, Brown said the 7th book will come “soon after” Light Bringer. Hopefully, “soon after” is closer to a few months than 4 years. But I’m willing to wait if it means the book will be as good as Light Bringer.

What it Will be About

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

Now obviously, it’s impossible to predict exactly what’s going to happen in the book, especially given Brown’s infamous twists that always leave me reeling. But based off of the events in Light Bringer, here’s what the book will likely cover:

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

Light Bringer left off with Darrow and his crew sailing back to Mars after successfully gathering an army. Determined to save their home, Mars, from Atalantia’s invasions and Lysander’s fleet, Darrow finally has the means to make a difference. Judging that this is the last book, I can assume that there will be an epic battle for control of Mars and hopefully a reunion for many of our favorite characters.

On top of that, we should have a conclusion for our different plot lines including the Abomination on Luna, the chaos between Rim and Core, and the fate of the Republic. Judging from the depth of these plot lines and the last few books, the length of the book will definitely be quite large (which I’m totally fine with).

Ultimately, I’m guessing the major conflict will be between Darrow and Lysander. The first series had its Lune and this one has its own. Despite Lysander’s morals, he has shown he is willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill his dream. But to me, he has fallen off the path and deluded himself into thinking he is fighting for what’s right. In reality, he just wants to reestablish the Society with no regard for equality and the colors below his own.

POVs

Red Rising has an unending number of amazing characters. Who will tell the tale for the last book?

Most likely, Darrow and Lysander will carry on as POVs. And I’m willing to bet that Lyria and Virginia will also remain: hopefully Virginia’s POV will come up more now that the battle is coming to Mars. On the other hand, if Pierce Brown decides to add an additional character, it would break his pattern of 4 POVs (assuming all the characters from Light Bringer carry on). But I’m sure that if he chose to do this, he would pull it off splendidly.

Once again though, there is no telling what exactly our conflicts or POVs will be because Pierce Brown always manages to throw curveballs. I just hope the ending is on par with Morning Star.
